Aston Villa and West Brom go through but the Eastleigh's cup run ends at Bolton

MK Dons booked their place in the fourth round of the competition, for a big-money home tie with Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea.

FA Cup round-up: Aston Villa and West Brom go through but the Eastleigh's cup run ends at Bolton
After a 2-2 draw at Sixfields in the original tie, Karl Robinson’s men were comfortable winners against League Two Northampton.
Ben Reeves put the hosts ahead from the spot early in the second half, before Josh Murphy doubled their lead eight  minutes later. The Norwich loanee calmly finished past shot-stopper Adam Smith.
Simon Church confirmed the result with one minute remaining as he coolly converted from the spot after goalkeeper Smith fouled Rob Hall in the box.

Aston Villa 2-0 Wycombe

Remi Garde’s blushes were spared as his Aston Villa side avoided an upset in the replay at Villa Park.
The Villans were lucky to rescue a draw in the first match at Adams Park and Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe started well in this tie, as they were still goalless at the break.
Ciaran Clark headed the Premier League side into the lead after 75 minutes before Idrissa Gueye converted to confirm their fourth round home match with Manchester City.

Bradford 0-0 Bury (Bury win 4-2 on penalties)
This all-League One FA Cup tie went to penalties at the Coral Windows Stadium as Bury booked a fourth round tie at home to Championship promotion chasers Hull.
The visitors were reduced to ten men shortly before the interval as Nathan Cameron was shown a second yellow card after a deliberate handball.
The Bantams hit the post in the second period and Andrew Davies nearly won it for Phil Parkinson’s men as his 20-yard shot flashed wide in added time.
The hosts pushed for an opening goal and Bury’s Danny Pugh hit the post at the other end.
The match inevitably went to penalties in West Yorkshire, with City’s Davies and Devante Cole missing their spot-kicks. Bury’s Jacob Mellis stepped up to coolly fire home the all-important penalty to confirm the victory, setting up for a home match with Steve Bruce’s Tigers.

Bristol City 0-1 West Brom
Salomon Rondon netted the only goal of the game as West Brom beat Championship side Bristol City.
Since the last match, where the Baggies very nearly lost, City have sacked manager Steve Cotterill and they put in a good performance, but Tony Pulis’ side edged it.
Both sides had wasted good opportunities before Rondon popped up after 52 minutes to control and finish Craig Dawson’s cross.

Portsmouth 2-1 Ipswich
League Two Portsmouth shocked Championship Ipswich thanks to goals from Gary Roberts and Marc McNulty.
The Pompy pair scored within five second-half minutes to ensure the hosts went into the break with a two goal advantage.
Ipswich looked like they were about to stage a comeback when Ainsley Maitland-Niles netted but a red card Piotr Malarczyk proved costly as Portsmouth progressed to the fourth round to face Premier League Bournemouth.

Yeovil 1-1 Carlisle (Carlisle win 5-4 on penalties)
A trip to Everton is the prize for Carlisle after they beat Yeovil on penalties to reach the FA Cup fourth round.
Jack Compton scored after 30 minutes as Yeovil took the lead in the first half before they were pegged back by an Anthony Sweeney goal 15 minutes from time.
Francois Zoko missed a penalty for Yeovil in the 90th minute as the game went to extra time, where both sides were reduced to ten men as Alex Lacey saw red for Yeovil before Luke Joyce received his marching orders for Carlisle six minutes later.
The first eight takers in the penalty shootout all found the net until Matthew Dolan missed for the hosts, allowing Mark Ellis the chance to win it for Carlisle, which he duly took.

Bolton 3-2 Eastleigh
Bolton came from behind to beat non-league Eastleigh, thanks to Darren Pratley’s 57th minute winner.
The Conference side looked to shock their hosts when they took the lead through Joe Partington after ten minutes before Bolton equalised through Gary Medine.
Neil Lennon’s side took the lead before half time with a Dean Moxey goal only for Kaid Mohamed to level the scores once more in added time before the break.
But there was no dream ending for Eastleigh as Pratley scored to schedule an all-championship tie against Leeds United.

Reading 5-2 Huddersfield
Matej Vydra scored a hat-trick as Reading staged a thrilling comeback against ten-man Huddersfield to set up a clash with Walsall in the next round.
The visitors went 2-0 up after only 15 minutes through Jamie Paterson and Tommy Smith before Jonathan Hogg saw red on 26 minutes.
That signalled the start of the fightback as Chelsea loanee Lucas Piazon and then three from Vydra saw the Royals safely through to the fourth round, before Alex Fernandez put the icing on the cake with a fifth goal in stoppage time.
