Aston Villa and West Brom go through but the Eastleigh's cup run ends at Bolton

MK Dons booked their place in the fourth round of the competition, for a big-money home tie with Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea.

After a 2-2 draw at Sixfields in the original tie, Karl Robinson’s men were comfortable winners against League Two Northampton.
Ben Reeves put the hosts ahead from the spot early in the second half, before Josh Murphy doubled their lead eight  minutes later. The Norwich loanee calmly finished past shot-stopper Adam Smith.
Simon Church confirmed the result with one minute remaining as he coolly converted from the spot after goalkeeper Smith fouled Rob Hall in the box.

Tottenham facing competition from Aston Villa for the services of striker Laurent Depoitre



The striker has bagged seven league goals so far this term and hit 14 last season to help Gent win the Belgian Pro League.

 
Both Villa and Spurs have sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old in action, who made his debut for Belgium back in October.

WORLD CUP: Nigeria U17: Chile 1 - Nigeria 5 Qualify for last 16

Holders Nigeria continued their impressive start to their FIFA U-17 World Cup title defence by completing a comprehensive 5-1 victory over hosts Chile and progressing to the knockout stages in the process.


A goal within 30 seconds by star man Samuel Chukwueze set the tone for a straightforward win, with the diminutive No8 grabbing a second in the second half after he had earlier been fouled for Kelechi Nwakali’s to score from the spot, and before he was felled for Victor Osimhen’s successful spot kick conversion.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on bouncing back from Arsenal defeat



After three straight wins took United to the top of the Premier League, Van Gaal’s men were brought back down to earth with a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.
 
The Emirates loss made for a long international break for the Dutchman, who has been keen to eradicate errors from his men before the trip to Everton on Saturday.

GOALKEEPER KEYLOR NAVAS TO BE HANDED NEW CONTRACT AFTER MAN UNITED MOVE COLLAPSED


Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, The 28-year-old was on the cusp of heading to Old Trafford in the summer as part of a deal which would have seen David De Gea go the other way.



However, the transfer collapsed in the final hours of the window and Navas remained at Madrid.

Memphis Depay vows to celebrate if he scores against former club PSV



Depay will return to the Philips Stadion for the first time on Tuesday since his £25million move from PSV to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman spent nine years at the club, rising through the youth ranks before becoming a first-team star.

The club holds a special place in the 21-year-old's heart, but that will not stop him from celebrating with all his might if he finds the net in Eindhoven during Tuesday's Champions League group stage encounter.

"For me it's a game, so if I score I will celebrate," the United forward said.

Leicester Foxes produce thrilling comeback to go second




Leicester City 3-2 Aston Villa

Fine strikes from Jack Grealish and Carles Gil had put Villa in control but Claudio Ranieri’s side launched a stirring fightback courtesy of goals from Ritchie De Laet, Jamie Vardy and a stoppage-time winner from Nathan Dyer. 
The Foxes remain unbeaten under their new manager and produced another scintillating attacking display in front of a jubilant home crowd.

World Cup 2015: Women , Japan 2-1 England – Injury time own goal decides semi



A close contest was heading to extra-time in Edmonton, when the Japanese broke on the counter-attack and a dangerous cross was met by Bassett, whose attempt to clear bounced off the bar and over the line.

It was a devastating end to England's first ever last four appearance on the global stage, particularly considering they had created better chances than the defending world champions and looked the more likely winners as the match progressed.
