An unfinished Arizona mansion has sold for an astonishing $5 million.
The Scottsdale complex boasts a total of nine buildings, connected by a series of tunnels, across 14 acres.
Detailed plans also included a man-made river, the first ever
residential IMAX movie theater, an indoor bowling alley and a
stand-alone spa.
In total, there are 7 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms on the 25,000 square foot site.
The property has become infamous as “Lot 1882” to neighbors, and there
are now plans for it to be rented out once it is completed.
MSL Holdings, led by Idaho developer Michael Matzek, bought the property and are currently planning the next stage of building.
“A savvy investor was needed for this property,” said Valley real estate agent Scott Grigg of The Grigg's Group, reported AZ Central.
“The original plans for the home were pretty impressive, but it's far from complete.”
Tech entrepreneur Jason Hope began building the luxury house more than five years ago, in the exclusive Silverleaf community.
Construction was halted in 2011 after Hope’s company Jawa faced a
lawsuit over a text-messaging scheme that was alleged to have cost
cellphone users millions of dollars.
Although Hope settled the suits in 2012, construction did not resume and the property has sat untouched ever since.
In December 2010, Hope held a spectacular Christmas party in a completed
part of the compound, featuring a performance from rapper Ludacris and
guests from several TV shows.
