Leadership
has nothing to do with age or job grade but much to do with self
confidence and trust. Broken down into its component pieces, we can
define this more broadly and more appropriately. This is because you may
be an Emerging Leader without knowing it; missing out on opportunities
to fully liberate the leader within solely depends on you.
Leadership is a choice, it has nothing to do with your background, age, title, power, or any other arbitrary quality. Leadership happens when people choose to behave in ways that make them effective in guiding others. Research validates that anyone can be a leader IF they consistently demonstrate the behaviors that others seek from them to follow.
Are you a high performer in your organization?
Do you have high potential in your current role?
Are you naturally an influence to others?
Do people always want to be under your supervision?
Are you are open to corrections, learning and growth?
Do you have a listening ear and strong passion for building skills
Are you centered by your core values?
Do you see possibilities for a better future state?
Are you a source of unity between people and do you have a forgiving heart?
Are you aspiring to become a leader?
Remember, it only takes one of the above requirements to be seen as an emerging leader. You can develop the key behaviors that will solidify your leadership. It is a choice you can make for yourself.
A question you must answer
Do people around you see you as an emerging leader? and why should they follow you?

Make
it about your followers. When you ask people to follow you on a
particular platform, tell them what’s in for them. Let them know what
they stand to gain, motivations, financial help, career development and
lots more. For example: coupon for training services, free dog treat
samples, special offers, etc. You want to give them a reason to follow
you.
