It was an unforgettable night for residents of Abuja as four time Grammy Awards nominee, Afrobeat king and legend Femi Kuti delivered a breath-taking performance at a live-in concert in Nigeria’s capital city.
The live-in concert which was sponsored
by Nigeria’s customer friendly network; Etisalat also featured some of
Nigeria’s biggest musical acts such as Niniola and Jesse Jagz as well as upcoming ones like Dunnie, Keline, ArrowMafia, Ricky Sani, Cheso and Anderson Afrolover.
The night was filled with excitement as
lovers of music, fun seekers, love birds, business partners, friends and
families as well as foreigners swarmed the Sheraton Field to satisfy
their music appetites.
The evening began with appetising
performances from several upcoming stars like Anderson Afrolover, Ricky
Sani, Cheso, Dunnie, Keline and ArrowMafia who dished out different
genres of Music.
Niniola, Jesse Jagz and Positive force
band followed suit with hit after hits from their album which kept the
audiences really excited as they attempted to sing along with them.
Then came the big fish himself, Femi
Kuti who put up a virtuoso performance as he took them on a music
journey beginning with some of his smashing hits like ‘Wonder Wonder’,
‘Survival, Plenty’ ‘Nonsense’, ‘Live for Today’, ‘Sorry Sorry’, ‘Truth
Don Die’, ‘Beng Beng Beng’, ‘The World is Changing’, ‘No Place for my
Dream and Changes’.
He also left mouths ajar as he played a long mono-note on his saxophone for over ten minutes without stop.
True to his nature, he used the
opportunity to speak out against social injustice, corruption and indeed
any form of social vices plaguing the Nigerian state as he stood for
what it means to be a Nigerian.
