Kim Kardashian isn’t likely to get most of her stolen jewelry back from her robbers.
The leader of the gang who allegedly robbed the reality star of
millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry last year claims that the group
melted down and sold almost all of the jewelry.
“For the jewelry never to be recognized, we made the decision to melt them," Aomar Ait Khedache, told police, according to Le Monde.
"One of the people took care of that. He came back with bars. In all,
there had to be 800 and a few grams, which gave an amount of ($26,000 to
$30,000).”
The only piece of jewelry that remains, Khedache said, was Kardashian’s 20-carat emerald cut diamond ring.
“Everyone was afraid to sell it because it’s a stone that’s very easily spotted,” he told police.
Intruders broke into Kardashian’s Paris residence in October and stole more than $5 million worth of jewelry.
Seventeen people were arrested in connection to the theft in mid-January and 10 were charged.
