Show me the backlash!
Cuba Gooding Jr. was captured on camera Sunday night casually lifting
up “American Horror Story” co-star Sarah Paulson’s dress as she got up
from her seat to greet castmate Kathy Bates onstage at the PaleyFest
panel in Los Angeles.
It’s unclear what Gooding Jr.’s reasoning was behind his weird actions,
but it’s possible he was trying to lend Paulson a hand to prevent
tripping over her train.
Either way, the internet wasn’t impressed, and marked the “Jerry Maguire” actor as “disrespectful.”
One Twitter user wrote, “How would @cubagoodingjr react if a man walked
up to his daughter, Piper and lifted her dress up behind her back?
#itsneverok.”
Another said, “The thing is....Cuba Gooding Jr. is a creep and also a bad actor.”
A third added, “It turns out Cuba Gooding Jr is a d---head who has no
respect for women. He had absolutely no right to lift Sarah Paulson's
dress like it.”
According to a TV Guide report, the cast still kept the mood light and silly.
Gooding Jr. revealed during the conference that Paulson suffered a
heatstroke at one point on set, while Bates joked to her, "You had
heatstroke? I'm so glad ... I thought it was because I was old and fat.
You had it in Malibu!"
Paulson responded, "I hate you. Where are we going to dinner after this?"
A rep for Gooding Jr. did not respond to the Daily News for comment.
