Body:
You
are ambitious; to be a Hair stylist, Fashion boss, Make-up builder and
Wardrobe expert- you are already a consultant! (Laughs) So, how did all
these started (ATS Hair etc)?
Hahaha
that sounds like a whole lot doesn’t it? Well, I have always had love
for hair, clothes, make-up etc and whenever I'm out, I always get asked
where I got my hair/clothes from. So let's just say I got tired of
advertising for people for free and so decided to open my own company
and model my products lol. I started selling from home and when it got
bigger, I decided to open up.
Do you see yourself adding more to what you are presently doing?
Yes, I definitely will be adding more products to my brand in the next few months- so watch out.
How challenging has it been for you?
Every
business has its own challenges from making tough decisions to facing
risks but it’s important to always focus on the bigger picture. Running a
business can be fun sometimes but most times, it’s hard work because I
am responsible for handling everything related to the business. That
means making a total commitment, sometimes at the expense of my personal
life (family and friends). It’s hard when you work long hours,
including evenings, weekends and vacations. All of my time, energy,
resources and even my health seem to go into keeping the business alive
and kicking. And what’s worse is there’s no one around to thank me for
all these effort. Actually, I take that back (lol) my sisters and Bae do
commend me sometimes but not all the time lol. So, it’s entirely up to
me to remain motivated for the challenges and rewards ahead. After all, I
built the business because I believed in myself and my ability to
confront and overcome challenges. Have I made business decisions that
turned badly? Yes I have but I have also made good decisions that moved
my business to the next level; so whatever happens, I learn from my
experience and this has definitely made me a better person and a
stronger leader.
What do your clients think of you?
They
think hmmm- actually not think, they know I'm good at what I do and
appreciates my hard work to make them look good. I didn't just make that
up, that's based on the feedback I get from them.
How do you inspire yourself to be competitive?
By staying true to my vision.
How do you get yourself updated to the trends of your customers?
I
follow social media a lot and I try to find outside inspiration like
watching the runway and reading publications. I know what my customers
like to rock- so, every now and again, I update them with the latest
seasonal wardrobe collections, analyzing suitable colors, designs for
clients of outfits including jewelry and makeup.
What has helped you in staying in your career all these years?
My
self-belief, my ambition, my confidence, my passion, my bravery, my
humility and my willingness to learn. I can go on and on. My
persistence, my sense of purpose, my assertiveness and most of all my
hard work which is the most important. Every successful business owner
would tell you hard work is the secret to success. You have to be
prepared to work long hours and sacrifice your spare time to build up a
business.
How expensive are your services?
Lol, not expensive at all.
If you had not been a Hair stylist and all that, what would you have loved to be?
Ehmm, a Pediatrician. I love kids.
Looking back to how you started and to where you are now, how do you feel?
I feel like I am the most awesome person I know.
What is your vision for yourself?
My vision is to style to advise and to organize.
When not working, how do you relax?
I visit my sisters and we do all sorts. Please don't ask lol
