An emergency room worker for Northwell Health on Long Island has filed a
wrongful termination action with the New York Division of Human Rights
over claims she accessed Bieber's medical records earlier this year.
The employee, Kelly Lombardo, swears she never peeked at Bieber's chart
and was fired from her job of the last decade due to her gender, her
lawyer confirmed to the Daily News.
"My client was a moral employee who had respect for patient privacy and
never accessed Justin Bieber's file," lawyer David H. Rosenberg told
The News.
Rosenberg said Lombardo was on duty as an emergency room representative
when "she was told by several company representatives" that Bieber had
been admitted under an alias to get treatment "for an STD."
"She's not a nurse," Rosenberg said. "She didn't believe the information. It sounded like something untruthful."
Rosenberg said Lombardo was later called into a meeting with several
other Northwell employees and was accused of accessing Bieber's chart.
"She was told generally, 'You are a young female, you're not curious
about what he was doing in the ER?' And they fired her," the lawyer
said.
Rosenberg said his client worked at the hospital for a decade and is "emotionally distressed" over her termination.
Sources close to Bieber told TMZ.com that the singer did not visit the hospital over an STD.
They said Bieber suffered a painful injury while playing soccer and
believed he had a condition called testicular torsion, where a spermatic
cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood to the attached testicle.
According to TMZ, the doctor who examined Bieber found he simply had some swelling in the area.
