Authorities in California/Officials in Baja California said that bottles of 7Up contaminated with
meth have been traced back to stores near the Mexico-U.S. border city of
Mexicali.
In the U.S., Dr Pepper bottles 7Up but in Mexico, it's manufactured by
PepsiCo. "None of the 7Up products sold in the U.S. are affected by the
issue being reported in Mexico," a spokesperson for Dr Pepper Snapple
Group told Az Central.
U.S. health workers suggest that tourists to the area skip the bright
green bottles for something less potent. Anyone who may have ingested
the tainted product should pay attention to symptoms such as nausea, an
irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, a strange taste in the mouth
or a burning sensation in the throat or stomach, according to a list
produced by Banner Health.
It also advises that people check their 7up bottles for broken seals,
an off color, smell or taste and advises that any suspicious products be
tossed out.
