Earlier this afternoon, during the General Meeting of the Creative and Entertainment Group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry; the premier chamber promoting the interests of the business community in Lagos, Nigeria, I was elected Vice Chairman of the Group.
I’ll be serving alongside Amb. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro (Chairman), andre bassey (Vice Chairman, Training & Programmes), and Abosede Abisagboola (Vice Chairman, Welfare).
This marks a new chapter in my leadership journey, and I look forward to working with the Chairman and the Executive Committee to make it an exceptional tenure for our industry.
My connection with the creative and entertainment world runs deep. After secondary school, I trained briefly in acting but abandoned it out of shyness and poor diction. During my university days, I ventured into model recruitment, and later, between 2005 and 2008, I published DreamWorks Magazine - a platform that celebrated entrepreneurship and the creative industry.
I still remember Dr. Ayo Animashaun sharing, for the first time in the magazine’s pages, his dream of launching a music channel.
Having been a member of the Creative and Entertainment Group for some time, this is my first time joining the executive committee, and I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to the growth and transformation of Nigeria’s creative economy.
Nigeria's creative economy is worth an estimated $6.4 billion as of 2025 according to a 2025 PwC, though it is projected to contribute up to $15 billion to the GDP by the same year. The industry is a significant employer, providing jobs for over 4.2 million people.
