Burberry shares rise on takeover bid talk

Shares in luxury clothing retailer Burberry have risen nearly 6% on speculation an anonymous investor might be about to launch a takeover bid.

 

Burberry is reportedly attempting to identity the mystery investor who has built up a stake of nearly 5%.

Shares in the upmarket retailer were nearly 6% higher at 1453p at midday.

Private Investors needed in the Agriculture Sector – Minister

Nii Djanmah Vanderpuye, the Greater Accra Deputy Regional Minister, has called on private investors to partner government to help develop the agriculture value chain.

 

He said this would make Ghanaian farmers more profitable and also give them the opportunity to expand in the export market.

Nii Djanmah said this in a keynote address when the Accra Metropolitan Assemby (AMA) in collaboration with the Metro Department of the Food and Agriculture celebrated the 31st Farmers and Fishermen’s Day at the Karikari Park at Dansoman on Friday.

Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers, NSE organise forum on retail bond market

Strategies on harnessing the huge benefits from retail bonds were the thrust of a workshop organised by Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited, in collaboration with the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Apart from NSE, the event which held in Lagos recently, attracted key players in the capital market, including stockbrokers, dealers, investors, economic analysts and the Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS).
