Caitlyn Jenner: I get more 'flak' for being a Republican than being a transgender woman

There’s an elephant in the room, and as far as Caitlyn Jenner is concerned, it has more to do with her Republican politics than her gender identity.

 

“I have gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans,” the “I Am Cait” star and transgender icon told students at the University of Pennsylvania Wednesday night.

Call it “Call me Caitlyn,” part two.

Former decathlete Caitlyn Jenner will pen a memoir about her public gender transition with the same journalist who helped debut her new identity in a now-iconic Vanity Fair cover story last June.

The yet-to-be-titled book, co-written with “Friday Night Lights” author Buzz Bissinger, is slated for a spring 2017 release, publisher Grand Central announced Tuesday.

Jenner, who approached Bissinger about the memoir months after her glamorous magazine cover hit newsstands, will “chronicle her journey from Bruce to Caitlyn, and her brave transition into womanhood.”

"It’s really about pain; it’s about isolation. It’s about fear, and it’s about the vast difficulty of being different," Bissinger told the Daily News.

"If I didn’t think this had the potential to be a great book and an important book, I wouldn’t do it."

Caitlyn Jenner confronted a cast of protesters in Chicago on Thursday who claimed she was a bad representation of the transgender community.

In a video posted on Facebook, Jenner is seen jawing back and forth with one of the protesters before being ushered away security.

"You are an insult to trans people," the protester yells in a loudspeaker as Jenner walks away. "You are an insult to women."

The confrontation happened soon after Jenner finished giving an address as the keynote speaker at the "Miss Representation” luncheon on behalf of the Chicago House, which helps people with HIV/AIDS, as well as other LGBT issues.
