Leads to Drink, Drugs and Depression: Research
According to a new research, stressful work life drives most of the people
to drink, drug addiction and depression. The research revealed that around 60%
of the people go on to booze after their shifts end and 14% begin to drink from
morning.
The survey was conducted by Paul Farmer of charity Mind on nearly 2,000 adults. The survey revealed that about 32% complained a very stressful or quite stressful work life, whereas 26% said excessive workload. Also, insufficient support was reported by 25% and unrealistic targets by another 25%.
Paul Farmer, Mind's chief executive, said, "Improving mental wellbeing in the workplace doesn't have to cost a lot. Our research shows that people whose organizations offered flexible working hours and generous annual leave said such measures supported their mental wellbeing".
The research has showed that the workforce goes through high levels of stress at work and that has a negative impact on both their physical and mental health, he added.
