Former South African President Nelson Man
He was addressing the media in Mvezo in the Eastern Cape. This after a court order granted to 16 Mandela family members against the icon's grandson and chief at Mvezo.
Former
President Nelson Mandela's grandson Mandla Mandela says he has the
right to determine where his father is buried, according to SABC.
The order provides for the remains to be returned to Qunu from where Mandla Mandela removed them in 2011. They were exhumed from graves in Mvezo on Wednesday evening.
Police say the remains could be reburied on Thursday in Qunu.
"I committed my life henceforth to ensuring that I serve our people and create a better life for all. In the past few days, I have been the subject of attacks from all sorts of individuals wanting a few minutes of fame and media attention at my expense," says Mandela.
He says that he is disappointed by the decision taken by the Mthatha High Court on Wednesday.
"I remain convinced that the decision of the court was erroneous as the court granted a final order in my absence."
He says he was effectively denied the right to be heard.
Earlier, Mandla launched a scathing attack on family members questioning their legitimacy. He argued Makaziwe, Mandela's eldest child, has no authority over Mandela family matters as she is a married woman. Neither do his siblings, Ndaba and Mbuso have any authority as they were illegitimate children.
