Eskom moves into Next stage of load-shedding

ELECTRICITY utility Eskom on Wednesday afternoon said it would be moving to stage 2 load-shedding from 2pm-10pm after it was forced to take more of its power stations offline.

"In the morning we mentioned that Majuba power station’s unit 3, Duvha’s unit 2, and Koeberg’s unit 1 were on unplanned maintenance. Now we have two more units that have had to be taken off service.

It said the power system would remain constrained for the rest of the week and that any extra load or faults in the system would lead to load-shedding.

"We therefore urge all electricity customers to reduce their consumption in order to reduce the severity of load-shedding," Eskom said.

Eskom called on all customers to reduce the load on the electricity grid by urgently switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all nonessential appliances.
