Tragedy: Caitlyn Jenner talks fears of going to men’s jail as “Manslaughter” over fatal car crash

Caitlyn Jenner has opened up for the first time about her involvement in a fatal car crash earlier this year — and her fears for what will happen if charged with manslaughter.

The “I Am Cait” star spoke to “Today” host Matt Lauer on Wednesday about the deadly February accident in Malibu that claimed the life of 69-year-old Kim Howe.
Jenner said that she remembers “very little” about the crash, which occurred after her SUV rear-ended another vehicle, causing a chain reaction that resulted in Howe's death.

“I remember it happening (but) that’s about it,” she said, adding that ongoing litigation has prevented her from discussing the incident.

“A tragedy like this, you’ll never get over it. You just learn to live with it the best you possibly can.”
While Jenner was not found to have violated any traffic laws in the collision, speed could be ruled a factor in causing the accident.

Jenner maintains that she was driving under the speed limit. Even so, she expressed her fears about what would happen to her if investigators did charge her with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter: a year-long stint in county jail.
“The media wants that picture, don’t they?” the reality star mused. "That is the worst-case scenario."
“I don’t know, we’ll see, " she added. "The men’s county jail. That’s the scary part. It is an enormous problem that they would put trans women in a men’s county jail.”
On a lighter note, Jenner was also asked what she thought about the Halloween costumes based on her famous Vanity Fair cover.

“I’m in on the joke,” she said.
“Yeah, no, I don’t think it’s offensive at all,” she added while noting that the trans community felt differently about the costumes.
But Jenner did have one wish for the Halloween get-ups.
"I could have done my own costume! I mean, that was a serious bustier on the cover of Vanity Fair. I mean at least get some good clothes," the star joked.
"You've got to enjoy life. Life's too short. I can't get too upset about that type of stuff."
The second part of Jenner’s interview with Matt Lauer will air Thursday on “Today.”
