PRIAPISM is a Medical Emergency

The reproductive organs can cause many problems. One of them is priapism. PRIAPISM is a medical emergency.
When you have an erection that you don't want, won't go away or never goes away that is probably priapism. It is not a joke. It should be treated by a PROFESSIONAL only! This is not the time to play around.

For those of you who have seen many, many commercials about Viagra, Cialis and the like, you know that one thing that they constantly warn about is an erection lasting more than four hours. No matter what anyone thinks or jokes about, having a blood-engorged penis is no fun after a relatively short amount of time. Worse, the inability to get that blood back out can cause permanent damage.

Sometimes there is an obvious reason for the priapism: medications for erectile dysfunction or an injury and sometimes there is no obviously evident reason. Sometimes it happens because of disorders like Sickle Cell Anemia, Malaria and others.

Again, this is not to be treated by anyone except a professional. Do not let embarrassment keep you from being treated. Do not take medication of any kind to treat this unless it is from a specialist as some meds may make this happen or make it worse.

As you know, I just try to give you the most relevant information. I will not usually put up graphic pictures but this is what happens when true priapism is not treated - for whatever reason. As you can see, the end result was from an amputation.
