Valentine Day is celebrating all over the world on 14th
February of every year, this is a day people show concern and Christ
like love over others, this year’s own seems to be different from other
years for the students of Special Education Centre Oron road, Uyo, as
the Transition Committee Chairman of Uyo, Hon (Barr) Mfon Ben decided to
celebrate this day with them in a grand style, he was accompanied into
the celebration venue with his counterparts from Nsit Ubium, Hon
Otobong Edemidiong and that of Ikono local government, Hon Itoro
Columba.
The desire for this celebration came barely four days ago after the celebration of Her Excellency’s birthday with them as ALGON.
Welcoming the chairman’s entourage, the principal of the
school, Pastor Mrs Deborah D. Benjamin took them round the school’s
premises and shows them some needful areas for help.
Hon Itoro Columba, promised to look into the plight of the
school although her Excellency, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel has
furnished the school with an outstanding refectory “when I listened to
the songs that choir rendered, I asked myself where lay the disability
in these children?, they sang wonderfully well, I promise you as ALGON
we will try and come back again to fix at least one dilapidated
structure for you”.
The celebration saw physically challenged choir and the band rendered songs that drop tears from the people’s eyes.
Goodwill messages were also received from people including
the presenter of Beyond Barriers on AKBC, Mr Ubong Udo, who thank the
chairman’s gesture and tagged it as the first chairman of Uyo local
government to celebrate valentine with the students of the centre.
Children cut the valentine cake together with the chairman and his entourage while the chairman takes them on the dance floor .
