Windows 10 will be the ‘last version of Windows — Microsoft

This model will be a thing of the past with Windows 10, which will be the last major version of Windows. Presently the company has all its efforts focused on Windows 10 which is its latest version of Windows; and probably the last. Um, no.

Windows 10 may be Microsoft's last big Windows update

At the moment you don’t need a Windows license to run the Windows 10 Insider Preview.

It’ll be interesting to see how the sales model shifts with this change: Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for eligible devices for the first year after 10’s official launch, but presumably if it’s capping that it’ll still be looking to drive revenue from sales of the OS.

Will you be updating to Windows 10 on your desktop or Xbox One? Besides a new Surface tablet, we may see Microsoft Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL version with a 5.7 inch screen.
The Ignite conference was held this week and Jerry Nixon, a Developer at Microsoft, made the claim that Windows 10 will be the last Windows OS.

How frequent the updates will be isn’t clear yet.
The biggest changes in 10114 revolve around the Start menu, with an addition that’s long been requested: tweaking options.

This is why it makes sense to make at least parts of Windows open source. Basically, connecting a Windows 10 mobile device to a larger screen allows you to utilize your phone as a PC. Just in case some people did not notice, Gabriel Aul, a Microsoft employee, took on Twitter and explained that the shirt has a hidden message.

The company has the flexibility of launching Windows 10 in the market even if some of the features are not ready yet. Instead, it’s planning lots of iterative releases, with features gently rolled out to users as and when they are ready. For example, extensions in Edge, the new browser, won’t arrive until a little while after launch. So this venture is what the company will probably embark upon once it is done with the release of Windows 10.

Microsoft would be making Windows 10 software as a service (SaaS), which is somewhat similar to Google Chrome. While it immediately sounds as if Microsoft is killing off Windows and not developing any future version, the reality is more complex. They simply got the new Windows when they got a new computer.

Businesses will also be nervous of an operating system that is constantly updating. The Windows Vista version was actually criticized for several nasty issues with driver support, privacy, performance, security and even product activation itself.
