Transgender Caitlyn Jenner to appear on third season of celebrated transgender series, ‘Transparent’

Caitlyn Jenner will join the cast of “Transparent” for the show’s next season.Caitlyn Jenner will appear on the upcoming season of "Transparent" — the celebrated comedy series that chronicles a transgender character's journey as she reintroduces herself to the world as a woman.

The 66-year-old reality star and transgender icon is slated to begin filming for the hit Amazon show's third season next week. It's currently unknown what role Jenner will play or how many episodes she'll appear in — but the
show's creator Jill Soloway says it's a "dream come true" to add the "I Am Cait" star to the cast.

"We are all part of the same community," Soloway said. "A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show, 'I am Cait.' Lots of crossover. Lots of friends."
"Transparent" has received rave reviews since its 2014 premiere, with a whopping 97% of Rotten Tomatoes critics giving it a positive review.

Actor Jeffrey Tambor, who plays the lead role Maura Pfefferman, took home both an Emmy and a Golden Globe this year for his inspired performance on the series, and the show won best television series at the 2016 Globes as well.
Some, however, have criticized the show's producers for opting to cast Tambor as the main character instead of an actual transgender actor. But overall, "Transparent" has been lauded for promoting the human experience and fueling the discussion about transgender acceptance.
Soloway has publicly supported Jenner in the past, calling it "sad" that some people lamented Glamour magazine's decision to name the former Olympian its Woman of the Year last November.

"It's sad," Soloway told the Huffington Post. "There's this feeling of the binary — this kind of either/or — that a lot of people get really attached to, and a lot of people are powered by anger, and looking for a reason to be angry."
Jenner, who transitioned last year, has detailed her experience as a woman so far in the first two seasons of "I Am Cait."
The E! Network documentary series won outstanding reality program honors at Saturday night's GLAAD Media Awards, which are held annually to recognize various forms of media for their contributions to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
