On Thursday the 12th of January, in front of a packed house at London’s Southbank Centre, award winning Nigerian author Chibundu Onuzo launched
her second novel, Welcome to Lagos.
There
was a live band, live poetry, and a surprise musical performance by
Chibundu that took everybody present straight back to the streets of
Lagos.
Onuzo was in conversation with Ellah Allfrey OBE
and she spoke about her inspiration for the novel, her faith, her
experiences living in England and much more. Copies of the book sold out
on the night.
Sarah Savitt, Deputy Publisher at Virago tweeted from the event, ‘This might be the best launch ever!’ If you missed it, don’t worry, just get your copy of Welcome to Lagos, which the Economist is already calling a ‘fine novel.’
Don’t forget to use the tag #WelcomeToLagos and maybe see you at the Lagos launch.
