FIDELITY Bank Plc’s on-going promotional campaign, tagged ‘Save 4 Shelter’ promo has produced first set of winners.
A total of 21 customers drawn from the six geographical zones of the
country won different cash prizes and consolation prizes of six
refrigerators and generators sets at the first draw conducted at the
bank’s head office in Lagos.
The draw saw a customer carting away N2 million, two customers won N1
million each; six customers won N500,000 each, to bring the total cash
prize to N7 million. Also, six customers won refrigerators, while
another six emerged winners of generating sets.
The promo, according to the bank, ties well with its drive to give
extra value to its customers and bridge the housing deficit in the
country.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, said: “The purpose of the promo is not for people to win houses; yes, that is the end, but that is not why we are doing it. We are quite focused on increasing financial inclusion, which means that we want a lot more people to come into formalised banking arrangement, rather than keeping money in funny places.
“We want people to save part of what they earn; that is to encourage
savings culture and if in the process of doing that, you end up being a
landlord of landlady; I think it is added incentive for people to save.
So, the overriding consideration is to increase savings culture of
our people and to also increase financial inclusion, because a lot of
our people don’t even have bank account. If this is one way to encourage
them to start banking, even if it means starting with savings account,
then we would have achieved something important for economic
development.”
Mr. Joshua Ogaga, Head, Consumer Protection Council, Lagos Zone, who
was present at the event, commended Fidelity Bank for the promo, saying
that consumers that are loyal to their companies ought to have this type
of benefit because it encourages savings culture.
Meanwhile, 200 winners are expected to emerge throughout the duration
of the promo and it is open to all Savings Account customers of the
bank.
Three duplexes located in Lekki Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja will
be won at the bi-monthly draws, while a total of N35 million rent
support will be won at the monthly draws at average of N5.5 million per
month.
The first winner in the rent support category will cart away N2
million; second prize winner in the category will win N1 million, while
the third prize winner will go home with N500, 000.
To qualify for the bi-monthly draw and be legible to win one of the
duplexes, the customer is expected to open a savings account and grow
the balance to N50, 000 or top up existing savings account with N50,
000. Qualification for the monthly draws that entitle customers to win
any of N2 million, N1 million or N500,000, requires a customer to also
open a savings account and grow the balance to N20,000 or top up an
existing account with N10,000.
