Many things make for joy in the hearts of people, and nothing more
joyful than the birth of new life, a new born baby, born healthy and the
splendour when mother and child are unified in warm embrace for the
very first time. When the “first time” happens to be
the very first day of the year, the celebrations are truly called for
and even sweeter as everyone who beholds the sight share in the joy.
Little wonder there were celebrations, splendour, fresh energy and
vigour in the air at the Lagos Island maternity hospital today, 1st
January, 2017 as Vitafoam Nigeria Plc in partnership with the Lagos state Government celebrated the birth of the first baby of the year, 2017.
The baby born to the family of Mr & Mrs Akande, came into the
world with a glorious cry to the relief of everyone present at exactly
12:01AM (normal delivery) this morning weighing 3.01kg, and looking full
of life and energy as reported by the management of the hospital. The
Vitafoam, Group Managing Director, Taiwo Adeniyi, was
present to rejoice with the parents of the ‘first baby’ in Lagos State
this year, offering words of encouragement and lots of support to the
family of Mr & Mrs Akande as they also received material gifts to
make the celebrations even more grandeur for the family. The Vitafoam
team also presented “Early days” range of Vitafoam products (breast
feeding cover, Vita baby mattress, vita baby cot, Vita baby pillows and
Vita sofa bed) to the new mother and baby. This was received with so
much joy and appreciation by mother of the new born, Mrs Aderonke Akande
on behalf of her entire family.

Also celebrated in the same vein were the second and third born
babies of the year born to the families of Mr & Mrs Oluwadamilare
and Mr & Mrs. Salaudeen respectively. The second baby was confirmed
to have been born at 12:01AM through caesarean session, weighing 3.01kg,
while the 3rd bundle of joy was born at exactly 12:03AM, (
normal delivery) weighing 3kg. The Hospital management related that the
entire process was stress free for both mother and child and to the
delight of the hospitals staff.
In support of maternal and child birth in Lagos state and as part of her
annual usual practice, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc also donated mattresses to
Lagos Island Maternity. Maternal and Child health is of major concern to
us at Vitafoam, as we believe that the future of any country lies in
its ability to provide safe delivery to every mother, that is why as
part of our culture at Vitafoam we celebrate the arrival of the first
baby of the year, as our first Corporate Social Responsibility for the
year according to the Vitafoam, Admin & Legal Services, Lekan Sanni.
Wrapping up the celebrations the Group Corporate Services Director, Vitafoam, Tunji Anjorin,
admonished the new mothers and mothers everywhere not to forget to
vaccinate their babies appropriately and on time to safeguard them
against deadly childhood diseases.
He also commended the staff and entire team at the Lagos Island
maternity hospital for their aptness and attention to detail at ensuring
the safe and healthy delivery of babies all year round at the centre.
He reiterated his profound appreciation on behalf of Vitafoam Nigeria
Plc. to management and entire staff of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital
regarding the standards at the centre at making continuous improvements
in the areas of maternal and infant health care, pre and post-birth in
Lagos State.
